We in NORDIC SYV believe that we all have a responsibility to think about the lifecycle of a product; extended to when it is not in use or cannot be used any longer. Our material choice and designs are driven with this theme, to make it easier to recycle and to reuse as much as possible.
Today production of fiber is responsible for 18% of pesticide and 25% of insecticide use worldwide. The clothing industry is the second worst polluter of clean water, for example it takes 2,650 litres (700 gallons) to produce enough cotton for one T-Shirt. More than 90% of cotton is now genetically modified - extending the life of clothing by a further 9 months would reduce carbon, waste and water footprints by around 20% to 30% each; all while acknowledging that about 40% of clothes are rarely or never worn.

All standard TENCEL™ Lyocell fiber types have been certified as biodegradable, possible to compost under industrial, home, soil, fresh water, and marine conditions – TENCEL™ Lyocell is 98% degradable within 30 days of disposal, reverting back to nature without harming the environment.
A major polluter in the fashion industry is shipping, specifically returns. We limit returns to garments and manufacturing defects due to our ongoing pledge to sustainability.
